Self-reflection is a tool used in every counseling therory. It especially has roots in psychotherapy and learning how we associate with certain words. Pyschotherapy also encourages the use of peering into the less desireable or shadowy parts of ourselves to bring to light what is hidden, what needs to be healed or transformed, or acknowledged and celebrated.
