This is a tool that provides some ideas for people who want human contact in their lives but do not have the opportunity to recieve physcial contact from other people or pets. I created this tool in the time of Coronavirus and when the rules of social distancing where put into place. In my work as a Somatic Practitioner, I emphasize the importance of touch and know it is important to have human contact. I use my years of experience, drawing from my work as a somatic practitioner, yoga teacher, meditator, and my studies of attachment theory to bring a infographic that provides some easy-to-implement ideas to help address the deprivation experienced when human contact is not available. I had to be creative to find ways to ponder what the experience of touch offers a person and find ways to replicate those benefits for people but by offering non-human contact alternatives.
Science has studied the important of touch for human beings. Infants who are touch-deprived risk death. Studies have shown the human contact helps reduce stress levels, calmns the nervous system, boosts immunity, creates bonding and healthy attachment, and more.
